We're Back!

Hey Guys!!

We have been M.I.A for too long! Things have been pretty busy lately! We had a great Halloween, tons of fun celebrating Austyn, Kerington and Pa's birthday, and had a great family photo session with Lexi Jones!  Ansley Brown also took a few fun ones of Mommy and Caleb at Austyn's party - I will share them all when I get the images!!

I thought about catching up by back-tracking but I wouldn't even know where to begin ... So I'm going to just pick-up right here and keep on truckin! :)

 Before I begin I have to share this photo of my little guy, thank you Lexi Jones!

Tonight I'm going to post a couple of funny things that come to mind, hope that you enjoy!

"Stop!"
Caleb has really taken notice to every stop light and stop sign as we go on our mini adventures.  He is also very quick to tell you that green means go, yellow means slow down and of course red means stop.  Well, we were on the way home from the grocery store one afternoon and about halfway through Old MacDonald had a farm when we came to a stoplight and I turned right... ON RED!?!  Mid-Moo Caleb began to squeal and got very upset.. "Red means stop, Red means stop.. Oh No Mommy... YOU DIDN'T STOP!!!!!" Now.. I had a mommy moment... I didn't know what to say!   Part of me wanted to say, it's okay.. mommy is allowed to turn right on red.. BUT the other part of me realized that we had just mastered this thought process and that in his mind the rule is red means stop-no exception.  SO, I agreed with him and told him that even mommy makes a mistake sometimes.. let's just say - no more right turns on red for now!!

(I didn't get a photo of his semi-circles but I did get it on video!)

"Semi-Circle"
I finally decided to bite the bullet and introduce something in my home that I do not particularly care too much for - playdough.  I know that its a wonderful creative tool BUT it can make such a mess and get EVERYWHERE!!   Caleb loves it.  He has played with it everyday this week! I was watching him play the other day and he rolled up a small piece of dough into a ball and flattened it.  Then he used the (plastic) knife to cut it in half.. and then it happened - He stood up and said "Look Mom, I made a semi-circle!" "Isn't that so cool?"  Oh my goodness - I was so proud!!  In that moment not only was I proud of Caleb but HE was so proud of himself.  I live for those little moments.

I am so blessed to be able to stay at home with Caleb.  I love seeing and being a part of these moments... time goes by so quickly!

"Parade!"

{This post is extremely short and sweet, I'm a tired Momma!}

Caleb was so excited to go to the Peanut Festival Parade!
In this photo he is singing "Pa-ra-de Pa-raaadde woo hoo!"

Here we are waiting for the parade to come...

We ran into our friend Grace! :)

Daddy and Caleb

Caleb's stash from the parade! Look at that face! lol

Highlight of the parade -  By far my favorite memory will be Caleb dancing as each band walked by!  I wish that I had gotten a picture of him BUT I was too busy making sure he didn't dance/march away!!

Low - The  Firetrucks had their sirens on far too long for our liking.. and for whatever reason they were in front of us for a little while longer  than anyone else... they were tooooo loud! \

Hope everyone else had a fun time!! :)

"G Pajamas"

This post will be short and sweet.  Tonight after I gave Caleb a bath I asked him "What pajamas would you like to wear tonight?" He quickly responded "My G pajamas mom."

I thought for a second, I looked in the drawer.. and I asked "What are G pajamas?"   to which Caleb responded "My G PAJAMAS MOM", "You know, the G ones?!"

Okay - so as I look in the drawer full of baseball, Mickey, dump truck and striped pajamas I could NOT for the life of me figure out what he was talking about.  I asked him to show me - he walked over to the drawer and picked these out.. look at them for a moment ;

I see a rockstar monkey.. Do you see why these are the "G Pajamas" ???

I didn't at first, so I asked my two year old the big question.. "WHY are these your G Pajamas?"
He looked at me in total seriousness.. and replied.. "they have a Gorilla playing a Guitar.. G says G like gorilla and guitar mom.. G pajamas!!!"

Oh yes - of course.. G pajamas :) Love it.

"Super Caleb"

It's a bird, it's a plane.. it's SUPER CALEB!
My son has such a fun personality..
He has really grown attatched to this cape lately. Once that velcro is closed, Super Caleb comes alive! He jumps, he flies, he runs and he yells "Super Caleb to the RESCUE!"
Yesterday I told him to go get his hat and a pair of shoes so we could go outside, and THIS is what came out of his bedroom. :)

He has strong muscles!
He's super FAST!

{UPDATES}
I feel like I need to post a few updates since there was such a large
gap between my first few posts.
Caleb is now two years old, and FULL of energy!
He is fully potty trained {even in underwear at night }
and sleeps all night in his own big boy bed!
He is in a constant "sponge" state of mind.. meaning he is soaking EVERYTHING in EVERY minute of EVERY day!
He loves reading, making projects and playing with his friends!
He is growing and changing so much, I literally found myself watching him play outside this morning and soaking in every minute of it.. It's bittersweet to see them grow up so quickly!

"The Little Things"

Sometimes in life it's the
 little things
 that really make a difference...

To the naked eye, these may look like harmless "little" cheerios-
WRONG!! Well, maybe not totally wrong..
 they're somewhat harmless, and delicious.. BUT they are really a pain in the nose!
 Yes, my son decided to place a cheerio inside of his nose today!
 Luckily, I knew what to do and we were able to get it out here at home!
A cheerio- who would've guessed?!

Another "little" item, the letter H..
 let's just say that Caleb + H + Air/Heat Vent = a wonderful noise
when the air came on today!  Caleb discovered that this letter magnet could stick to the metal vent.  Yay for a teachable moment!
Magnets stick to metal.. and small magnets fall into holes in the vent, and when the air comes on it sends the magnet up and down making a very loud noise!

Hmm.. "little" lincoln logs - they aren't innocent today either, they somehow made it into the tube of my vaccum cleaner.. and when I turned it on, wow what a loud noise it made!! Followed by a slight burning smell and a tad bit of smoke...  yes.. enough said about these guys..

And my final "little" items of the day..
these two little eyes that look at me each day like I'm his hero,
this one little smile that brightens every minute of my day,
this one sweet little boy that I have the privelage of raising...
 I am so blessed to have my Caleb..
and I live for the days filled all of the "little things."

"Birthday Boy"

Today's post will be short and sweet :)

Two years ago today my husband and I were blessed with our son Caleb.  The first day of Caleb's life was the best day of ours!  The last two years have been filled with many fun learning experiences.. Caleb's not just learning, he's also teaching us a thing or two about life.  It is amazing how much one sweet little boy can change your life!

 He always makes us smile!!

Happy 2nd Birthday Caleb, we love you!

"Potty Time!"

I am new to the world of blogging so bear with me!  I have been interested in doing this for a while and did not realize how easy it was to get started.. so anyway- here I am and I am going to use this place as a sounding board to express how much I enjoy being a mommy! As a little background info for those of you who do not know me - I have a beautiful son who I adore, he will be turning two this week! Man time has flown by and we are blessed to have him in our lives.  As his second birthday approaches there is a BIG milestone that he has decided to work on- POTTY TIME!

Last week Caleb decided that it was time to use the potty.. so stickers were purchased, charts were made and man did he just jump right into it!  I am amazed at how quickly this process has unfolded in our household.. I guess when the time is right and your child is ready it will happen!  He decided last Wednesday that he was ready and I felt like the timing was horrible because we had such a busy weekend planned and we wanted to be as consistent as possible... but we went with it!  By Friday he was in "Big Boy Underwear" a couple of hours here and there!  Friday night we went to the race in Richmond.. he stayed dry for the 1 1/2 hour trip and went potty as soon as we arrived at the race track!  He continued to use the potty during the race and stayed dry the entire evening!!  Yes, I was one proud mommy - He got to see the race cars, we were able to have a fun family night out and I managed to get in a workout from climbing the steps in the suite to take him to the bathroom 100 times! Yes-  He has already learned that the word "Potty" is a magical word that will make mommy stop what she's doing and act like a crazy nut to get him to a toilet! It also works wonders when he's not quite ready to go to bed.. but hey I'm not complaining!

There are many other bits of info that occurred between Saturday and now that I could slap in here that involve the potty and occasional accident as he's learning but I will spare you the details..  let's fast forward to today, Monday April 30th..

Today Caleb stayed in the same pull up ALL DAY.. from the time he woke up this morning until about 5:30 this evening at which time he put on a pair of underwear that he kept DRY for about 4 hours!! We only put the pull up back on because we didn't think he was ready to wear underwear to bed yet.. My little guy is growing up, and we are so proud of him!
